L&T hosts The Writers Lab UK & Europe 2025 for women & non-binary screenwriters over 40

8th September 2025

We were delighted to host The Writers Lab UK & Europe 2025‘s opening two days of their 4-month programme at our offices last week, as part of its mission to elevate the work of women screenwriters in their prime through learning, advocacy and exposure.

The non-profit programme, cofounded by Elizabeth Kaiden and Nitza Wilon, is designed to develop and promote narrative scripted content written by women and non-binary screenwriters over the age of 40 from Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and Austria.

It provides a unique opportunity to discover and nurture exciting new talent and matches the writers with leading film and TV industry mentors, such as director Sally El Hosaini, writer/producer/director Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, director Destiny Ekaragha (End of The F**king World), screenwriter Ursula Rani Sarma (Bodkin), producer Rienkje Attoh (Noughts and Crosses), writer Karen Cogan (Bad Sisters), director Jessica Swale (Summerland), writer/director Aislinn Clarke (Frewaka) and writer/producer Susan Soon He Stanton (Succession, Dead Ringers).

Over the two-day event hosted at Lee & Thompson, the 10 selected writers were able to attend workshops, in-conversation talks with industry experts including with Kate Riordan, Ursula Rami Sarna and Climate Spring as well as one-on-one sessions with mentors and script advisors.
