Earlier this week, Film & TV Partner Luke Carey was invited to speak at Screen International’s “Building on the UK’s Global Success” Summit, in a session called “Ask The Experts: Follow The Money”.

The panel was chaired by Mona Tabbara, Screen International, and Luke was joined by Charles Auty, Elevate Production Finance and Sarah Gooding, Centtrip. Their discussion covered

effective avenues for independent producers looking to raise finance in the UK, how to safeguard against deferring producer fees, contractual protections for producers to hang on to IP, common pitfalls at closing finance stage and the effects of the Independent Film Tax Credit.

Screen Summit brought together leading industry executives to debate how the UK independent film sector can build on its strengths to become a fully thriving, equitable and sustainable industry. Different panels throughout the day touched on film & TV business fundamentals, including film finance, distribution, international co-productions, packaging and more.
